Dr. Oddbjørn Straume, MD, PhD

Speaker Profile

Oddbjørn Straume is a medical and radiation oncologist working with melanoma, breast cancer and renal cancer. He is professor at Section of Oncology at University of Bergen. Straume is also PI at the Center for Cancer Biomarkers (CCBIO), a center for excellent research at the University of Bergen. Straume is head of the Norwegian melanoma group.

In addition to his clinical work, Oddbjørn Straume has 24 years of research experience with a special interest in tumor cell biology. His work includes studies of angiogenesis, tumor dormancy, tumor immunology, cancer cell plasticity (EMT) as well as a strong portfolio of biomarker studies. Recently, Straume has initiated a series of studies focusing on adaptive mutability as a stress response in cells driving carcinogenesis, progression and drug resistance.
